The History Group decided they required display units to exhibit some of their many artefacts to be on permanent display in the Old Willow Works. The Group applied for and were successful in obtaining two grants. One was for £2,500 from the Coop Big Birthday Awards and one for £2,000 from Trent Vale Landscape Partnership. After much discussion four special bespoke cabinets were ordered from Selquin Trading Ltd, Telford, Shropshire in October 2011.
Their design was to be mainly glass with adjustable glass shelving and with small cupboard storage bases. Each cabinet would be illuminated. They came from Germany but regrettably, there was a very long wait, despite contacting and chasing the company many times. The Group began to wonder if they would ever arrive! However, to everyones relief they were eventually delivered to the Willow Works Thursday 16th February 2012.
The positioning of the cabinets had been discussed and agreed by the History Group and Groundworks and were to go in the main function room of the building. The delivery men, Mark and Peter, did an excellent job of unloading, unpacking and positioning the cabinets. Despite all the worry and the long wait everyone is extremely pleased with them and the History Group members could not wait to fill them with various artefacts. These include items relating to The Old Willow Works (of course!) Watsons Shipyard, Beckingham Memorabilia and possibly some promotional material.
